FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 17, 2026
ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Ben Hightower, decorated 20-year Navy veteran and candidate for Maryland State Senate District 9, will participate in the League of Women Voters of Howard County’s Candidates Forum on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The event will be held at Monteabaro Recital Hall, part of the Horowitz Performing Arts Center complex at Howard Community College.
“This is exactly the kind of forum I’m glad to participate in,” said Hightower, who served six combat deployments as a Hospital Corpsman before retiring from the Pentagon. “The voters of District 9 deserve to hear directly from the candidates on the issues that matter most to their families – affordability, public safety, education, and individual liberty. I welcome every opportunity to make my case directly to the people I hope to serve.”
The forum will be livestreamed on the League of Women Voters of Howard County’s YouTube Channel (@leagueofwomenvotersofhowar3980) and featured on their Facebook Page (facebook.com/LWVHC). Videos will remain online for viewing through the General Election. Voters unable to attend in person are encouraged to tune in via those platforms.
The event is free and open to the public. Campaign materials will be available on a table in the foyer before and after the forum, and Hightower will be available to speak with voters in the foyer following his session. No campaign materials will be permitted inside Monteabaro Recital Hall per venue policy.
